Mental healthcare is often at its best when patients can access the right treatment at the right time. Unfortunately, that is not always the reality.
Throughout our careers, we have worked across nearly every level of psychiatric care, including outpatient clinics, emergency departments, inpatient psychiatric units, consultation services, intensive outpatient programs, and interventional psychiatry. We have cared for patients during some of the most challenging moments of their lives and have seen firsthand how difficult it can be for individuals and families to navigate the mental healthcare system.
What became clear to us over the years was that many patients do not struggle because effective treatments are unavailable. They struggle because access is delayed, care is fragmented, communication between providers is inconsistent, and opportunities for early intervention are missed.
Too often, patients find themselves waiting weeks or months for an appointment. Primary care providers may have limited psychiatric resources available to them. Families are left searching for answers while symptoms worsen. By the time many individuals receive specialized care, they may already be in crisis.
We believed there had to be a better way.
The vision for Haven Psychiatry was born from a simple idea: create a practice where patients receive timely, evidence-based psychiatric care delivered by experienced clinicians who take the time to understand the whole person, not just the diagnosis.
The name Haven reflects what we hope to provide. A haven is a place of safety, comfort, and refuge. When people seek psychiatric care, they are often navigating uncertainty, stress, or emotional pain. Our goal is to create an environment where patients feel welcomed, respected, and supported throughout their journey toward recovery.
At Haven Psychiatry, we believe that excellent psychiatric care extends far beyond prescribing medication. It requires careful diagnostic evaluation, thoughtful treatment planning, ongoing monitoring, collaboration with therapists and primary care providers, and a commitment to staying current with advances in psychiatric medicine.
Our practice was designed around these principles.
We place a strong emphasis on diagnostic accuracy because effective treatment begins with understanding the root cause of symptoms. We prioritize communication with referring providers and treatment teams because coordinated care leads to better outcomes. We invest in technologies and services that expand treatment options, including advanced interventions for patients who have not found relief through traditional approaches.
Most importantly, we strive to make care accessible. One of our guiding beliefs is that delayed care is denied care. Every day that a patient waits for appropriate treatment is another day they continue to suffer unnecessarily.
As Haven Psychiatry grows, our mission remains unchanged. We aim to build a model of psychiatric care that improves access, strengthens continuity, embraces innovation, and helps patients achieve meaningful and lasting recovery.
We are grateful to the patients, families, providers, and community members who have trusted us during the launch of this practice. Opening Haven Psychiatry has been the culmination of many years of experience, planning, and dedication, but it is only the beginning.
Thank you for allowing us to be part of your journey.
Where healing meets expertise.

As a fellow psychiatric nurse, this touched my heart. I had the privilege of working with both of you in the hospital, and you were two of my favorite psychiatrists to work alongside. I was truly saddened when you moved to California, but after reading your vision for Haven Psychiatry, I completely understand why.
Your commitment has always been about putting patients first. You both took the time to listen, collaborate with the treatment team, and genuinely care for the whole person—not just the diagnosis. That made a difference not only to your patients but also to those of us who worked beside you.
Your vision for Haven Psychiatry is exactly what mental healthcare needs: timely access, compassionate care, collaboration, and hope. I have no doubt you will change countless lives through this practice.
Congratulations on making your dream a reality. I’m so proud of both of you and wish you nothing but continued success. Your patients and your community are truly blessed to have you. ❤️
Thank you so much for your kind words. They truly mean a lot to both of us. We were fortunate to work alongside such an amazing team in Wichita, and we’re grateful to have shared that journey with you. Your encouragement reminds us why we started Haven. We hope our paths cross again someday. ❤️
